Samiyah

Class 67

Samiyah is from Linden, NJ and just recently moved to Charlotte in April 2020. She wanted a change and knew that the cost of living in Charlotte would be more affordable. Since moving here, she is looking forward to getting healthy, staying in shape, and starting her own business. Samiyah has always liked to cook and spent a lot of time cooking with her Grandma. So, it was a natural fit to go into the culinary field. A friend in NJ had mentioned that there was a tuition-free culinary school in NJ, so Samiyah decided to see if there was a similar opportunity in Charlotte. After a quick search in Google, CCSC was the first to pop up. She says that it’s been a nice experience for her. She feels good knowing she’s done something at the end of the day, and it puts her in a good mental space for the rest of her day. Her knife skills have already improved, and she is looking forward to learning more about plating and all of the recipes. After graduation, Samiyah wants to start by opening her own food truck, and then restaurant, focusing on plant-based, vegan soul food. She wants her food to be healing, healthy and comforting. Welcome to Class 67, Samiyah!
