“I want to find a job I enjoy doing. One where I don’t mind going to work every day.” “My fondest memory is with my grandma, when we would be sneaking bites of food without my mom knowing, in the kitchen on holidays.” Marqus grew up in the kitchen, but not always in the way you’d think. His mom would always cook for the family, and Marqus loved her meals. He always wanted to learn how to make her delicious food, but she wouldn’t teach him. He always had a hand in making the food but was never sure what he was doing or why. “I was always in the kitchen helping, not learning.” Marqus’s whole family is in the hospitality industry. Originally, he wanted nothing to do with the culinary field. “I wanted to do something new and different, but nothing was working out. So I came back to the kitchen.” Now that he’s back, he loves it. “After graduation, I want to find a job I enjoy doing. One where I don’t mind going to work every day.” Marqus is excited to take the skills he’s learning in Class 79 and use them to obtain a job with career potential in the hospitality industry.
