Lisa

Class 75

“Attending School has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.” Lisa is 57 years young and newly retired. She worked for the Post Office in New York for 18 years and was assaulted while on the job in January of 2013. The assault led to 4 days in the hospital, 3 weeks of memory loss, years of recovery, and 10 years of being out of work. Ten years after the assault, on the first day of Class 75 in 2023, she got her early retirement paperwork from the Post Office, officially marking the end of a long, painful journey. “I am blessed that God saved me and allowed me to continue living my life,” she says. After her assault, Lisa knew just how special life was, and knew she didn’t want to do anything that she wasn’t truly passionate about. “Giving is my passion. I take pride in feeding and serving others.” Lisa said that one of her favorite things to do is cook new and different meals for her friends and family. After graduation, Lisa wants to focus on finding a new place to live that has a good kitchen with lots of space so that she can practice all the skills she learned in School. “I’m excited every day to come and be here. The instructors are so patient, helpful, and supportive.” We are happy to have you, Lisa!
