Leeway
Class 74
“If it’s meant to be, it will be.” Born and raised in Liberia, Africa, Leeway has seen it all. Her mother moved to America on her own in 1986, and in 1989 a civil war broke out in Liberia. In 1997, Leeway’s mother sent for her and her four siblings and brought them to America, where they would be safe from the war. They ended up in California, but Leeway moved to Charlotte, NC when she got married and has stayed here ever since. With a husband and two kids, Leeway has a lot on her plate, but always knew that cooking would come into the mix eventually. She says her passion and dream has always been to be a chef, and knew that when the time was right, everything would align. She was doing some catering on the side and wanted to get her ServSafe certification to further her business. When she went to take her exam, she ran into the previous class from CCSC who were also taking the exam and began to talk with them. It was then that Leeway learned about CCSC and knew that it was meant to be. Next thing she knew, she was a part of Class 74! “I thought it was too good to be true, but here I am. If it’s meant to be, it will be,” she says.
