Jaiden
Class 78

“If I can do it, anyone else can, too.” Growing up, Jaiden was always staying somewhere new – a hotel, a shelter, or a friend’s couch. Jaiden and his three siblings were raised by their single mother, just doing the best she could to provide for them. “I’ve been struggling my whole life. My mom did what she could, and she did a good job. It’s important to be grateful for what you have because some people have less.” To Jaiden, cooking is an art form. “I’m creative. When you’re struggling, it means being able to create something out of nothing.” Growing up, he would think of creations in his head and figure out how to make them work. Jaiden is also comfortable in the kitchen because he’s been working at fast food restaurants, movie theaters, and grocery stores his whole life. Even though he was familiar with working in a kitchen and had some skills, he was interested in enhancing his knowledge. Jaiden heard about CCSC through several people that crossed his path, and he took it as a sign to enroll. “It’s a great program, and you don’t get many of these opportunities in a lifetime.” What Jaiden enjoys most about CCSC is its accessibility, being tuition-free, and how the classes are hands-on from day one. Since starting class, Jaiden has been hired at Bobby’s Burgers and is excited for what’s to come. “I’m just trying to get on the right track and do better for myself. I’m striving for what I want.”
