Deshawn
Class 79

“God sent CCSC to me.” Deshawn was first introduced to the culinary world in 2003, when he began working on banquets and catering events at Founders Hall in Charlotte, NC. From 2003 to 2009, his passion for all things culinary grew as he learned the ins and outs of the catering world. During this time, he worked with a woman named Susie, who also happened to be (and still is to this day) a board member at CCSC! While a lot has happened from 2009 to now, the one thing that hasn’t changed is Deshawn’s love of food. “My food should make you feel like you’re listening to a great song. Food should make you happy, even if for a brief moment.” In addition to being passionate about food, Deshawn is also passionate about being a father. He has four children, two of which are in his custody. “I’ve been a single father for the past 3 years. Being able to provide for my kids every day is a blessing.” After graduation, Deshawn is looking forward to securing employment with a company that has the opportunity for growth in the culinary industry. “I want financial stability for my kids, and to better provide for the two who aren’t in my life currently.” When Deshawn started Class 79 in January, he learned that Susie (that same Susie) was a board member at his school. That’s when it all came full circle. “God sent CCSC to me. This is the perfect place for opportunity and growth if you’re serious. It’s about showing up with a positive attitude and putting your best foot forward.”
