Danyetta
Class 63
Originally from Trenton, NJ, Danyetta has lived in Charlotte since 2007. Cooking has always been part of who she is. She began helping her Nana in the kitchen at 10 years old and has loved cooking for people ever since. As the proud mother of eight children and grandmother of two, Danyetta taught her kids how to cook at a young age. Danyetta learned of CCSC years ago. In 2010, when she was working for the library, she often referred her patrons to the School – all the while thinking it sounded like a great opportunity for herself someday. “I finally decided it was time to reinvent myself with something I love,” says Danyetta. Danyetta loves all foods, but her favorite to prepare is Chicken Piccata. It’s a recipe she enjoys experimenting with and pairing with new sides. And while she’s excited to learn everything the School has to offer, her favorite place to be is in the Café. She likes working with the customers and seeing their reactions to the food. After graduation, Danyetta is looking forward to finding a better paying job in a place where she can grow. She wants to be stable and successful, and she encourages others to explore this great opportunity. “If you have the opportunity, and this is your calling, go after it and don’t let anything stop you,” says Danyetta. “Life gets hard, but you’re strong, and you can do it with support.” Danyetta is so appreciative to the Assistance League of Charlotte, whose support through CCSC is paying for the cost of Danyetta’s training.
